Trio/Sextet is the first release to feature Anthony Pirog as a band leader and was recorded in January of 2008. Side one, performed by the Anthony Pirog Trio, features Anthony Pirog on electric and acoustic guitars, electronics and loops, Jeff Reed on contrabass and Larry Ferguson on drums, percussion and vibraphone. The song, entitled Composition for You, You and Me, gives each member of the group time to allow his unique voice to lead and push the music through unpredictable twists and turns. Side two, performed by the Anthony Pirog Sextet, adds Joe Herrera on trumpet, Bobby Muncy on tenor saxophone and Janel Leppin on cello for the composition One Tall Cliff. After a brief melodic statement, this piece focuses mainly on the improvisational mastery of the horn players and features an extended group improvisation.
